I have been writing in this space for more than two years and it has been a wonderful, engaging experience.  Now, however, I feel that it is an appropriate time to move on.

Last week I posted my two hundred and fiftieth column and I feel that herein lies a logical place to close my time editorializing about the political and cultural world.  My goals when I started this space were ambitious by any standard, and I can say that I have met many of the goals I established – although international fame and fortune still eludes me.

In recent weeks, I have learned that I will be a father for the very first time and that it will be necessary to change jobs and return to my native New England.  These are two events that separately would make the task of writing, editing, and posting a column twice per week daunting.  Together, I feel that they would severely jeopardize the quality that I hope each BrianClardy.Com column sustains and put constraints on my time that I will now want to spend elsewhere.

This past week my computer went hay-wire, preventing me from sending this message to the BrianClardy.Com E-mail Edition subscribers, and I took it as a sign that it was time to put my keyboard aside and focus on other things, more important things, in life than my political ranting.  Perhaps this will grant me an opportunity to write to the editors of my local newspapers more, or even get more deeply involved in political offices locally.  Who knows?

What I do know, however, is that my tenure as a part-time political commentator is over.  Certainly, I would still relish the opportunity to do this as a full-time job, but until that time comes, I must focus my attention and energy elsewhere.

The website and its archive will remain up and on-line for the foreseeable future, but there will not be any new content in the new year.

2005 will be an amazing and exciting year for me.  I hope that it will be for all of you as well.
