Iraq's Terrorists Understand Something Too Many Americans Don't

Nearly half of all Americans, to one extent or another, support Senator John F. Kerry’s bid for the presidency.  In this respect, they have something in common with terrorists who openly seek the destruction of our country and our lifestyle.  Whether or not Iraq had anything to do with September 11, the country certainly had ties to terrorist organizations like al Qaeda and is now the front line in the war on terrorism.  It is therefore of some importance to consider the preference of the terrorists since, after examining the presidential election through the media, the terrorists have an idea of who they would rather face for the next four years of this important war.

Unsurprisingly, they choose Kerry over incumbent President George W. Bush.  Mowafaq Al-Tai told the Washington Times that the “most pro-Kerry… are former Saddam Hussein loyalists – Ba’ath Party members and others who think Washington might scale back its ambitions for Iraq if Mr. Kerry wins.”  Where would that idea come from?  Kerry’s message is that he will be stronger and better in the war on terror, but if these were truly sincere and credible statements, the terrorists shouldn’t have any preference in the presidency because that would mean whoever occupies the Oval Office would face terrorism and confront it wherever it hides.

Unfortunately, however, Kerry’s alleged strengths in the war on terror are simply, and unabashedly, false statements.  The terrorists know this.  Along with their apologists in the media and the world, those who supported Hussin’s regime first and the freedom of the citizens of Iraq second understand something very basic about Kerry: he will, without a doubt, be weaker on terrorism than Bush.

There are many reasons for this perception of weakness, but the primary one is Kerry’s promise to get United Nations consent prior to engaging in any conflict in this war on terror.  He told NBC’s Tom Brokaw last week that for America to have gone to war in Iraq under a President Kerry, “the entire world would have understood why we were doing it.”  That’s the global test Kerry insists he doesn’t have.

In fairness, Al-Tai noted that many terrorists support Bush, too, but mainly “foreign extremists.  ‘They prefer Bush, because he’s a provocative figure, and the more they can push people to the extreme, the better for their cause.’”  That opposition, though, directly parallels their opposition to his foreign policy.  That is, exporting freedom, liberty, and democracy – a policy that neither Bush’s father nor President Clinton were capable of instituting peaceably.

Mohammed Amin Bashar, leader of the Muslim Scholars Association in Baghdad, like many other anti-U.S. intellectuals, supports Kerry.  “I think if Kerry wins, he’s going to try to get world support and United Nations involvement.  You’ll see a different situation in Iraq if the United Nations is involved.”  But, the United Nations has already been involved and it failed miserably.

Regardless, Kerry and his sympathizers insist that the UN can wave a magic wand and make the situation better in Iraq.  The UN pulled out of Iraq with the tragic first death of an aid worker, and France and Germany have openly promised that they will never send troops to Iraq no matter who is president.  The UN’s oil-for-food program is so amazingly corrupted that it belies reason, yet the media and liberals remain silent.  Imagine the uproar that currently exists concerning the unsubstantiated allegations that Halliburton ordered our country to war for oil and then consider the utter silence of the Left in this true scandal that helped prop up a murderous, genocidal monster.  So how does Kerry intend to garner their support?  He offers no specifics while insisting his hazy answers are clear.

Kerry and Bashar, like too many other intellectuals, fail to understand that the United Nations is no longer an organization exporting peace and freedom, but rather an one designed to protect countries and leaders – whether they are peace-loving or murderous tyrants – so that their falsely-created façade of world peace, and therefore any perceptible justification for their presence, is perpetuated.

The Iraqi terrorists want the UN to be involved because they know it will leave them alone.  They looked at the presidential candidates and understand the enormous benefit Kerry would offer their cause by stifling the war on terrorism until the UN comes aboard, and thereby aiding their cause and giving them the time they need to regroup, acquire resources, and plan their next attack against America’s soldiers or America herself.

In the process, they show they understand something nearly half of America do not.
